EATING HEALTHY IN LAGOS

BENEFITS OF EATING HEALTHY

We are usually only concerned with satisfying our taste buds and are careless about our health. But the unhealthy and convenient food we consume regularly to save time and effort from our hectic schedules offers an enormous threat to our health. This article will enlighten us on the benefits of having a healthy meal.

It can be said in the world today that many do not eat healthy due to ignorance as to the disadvantage it causes to their health and most times financial problems.

Imagine going to the market to get food stuffs, and there is inflation in the prices of commodities, causing you to go for things at a cheaper rate. An example is fresh tomatoes. I’m using tomatoes because they are one of the major ingredients in food in Nigeria. There are 2 types of this tomatoes found in the market,

The rotten one, called “Esha” in Yoruba, and the fresh one. The particular one that should be avoided is the rotten tomato, but some people always go for this because it is cheaper and larger in quantity compared to the fresh one, which can be expensive sometimes. Forgetting that a pot full of unhealthy ingredients can lead to a full-time disease and injury to the body system. When tomatoes or food in general is rotten, they grow mold on their bodies, which serves as an abode for worms and maggots. These maggots and worms deposit their eggs when they perch on them, and this causes bacterial poison when consumed, and it also induces cancer.

Never listen to market women who would give you many convincing reasons to buy spoiled foodstuff so that they can sell off their markets, they claim the tomatoes are just soft, nothing is wrong with it even when knowing this is very harmful to you. Some caterers out there are also found doing this, and at the end, customers go to their restaurants to patronize them going back home to purge and suffer the consequences of an unhealthy meal. The major organs in the body responsible for eliminating toxins are the liver, kidneys, intestines, and skin. If these organs are affected, the body system won’t work properly as they should. The effects are not instant in most cases, they come gradually.

But then, in a scenario where an individual eats healthy and is conscious of his meal, what guarantees that the occasions, parties, or events he attends will uphold the standard of healthy meals?
