How To Create Event Design That Stands Out

Regardless matter whether you’re arranging a personal or business event, event planning requires a number of moving parts. From the setting of the venue to the speakers, there is a great deal to consider; food is a separate chapter. The stages that precede the actual preparation of an event might be so comprehensive that they have a name. It is known as event design. However, what is event design and why is it crucial to the success of your event?

Event design is the process of developing a vision for an event by constructing a blueprint of all the aesthetic features around the occasion in order to change the venue, while event planning is the process of determining all the event’s logistics.

1. Set the goal and your budget

You probably already know the purpose of the event, which is usually to increase a crucial statistic. For instance, I want to site the marketing strategies SalesforceIQ leveraged in their mind blowing project. The objective of the SalesforceIQ marketing team, which included our communications design team, was to greatly increase the number of product trials. The total budget for the event had already been decided, but they assisted in determining how portions of the cash should be allocated to fulfill the marketing team’s objective.

2. Get excited as a team

Once they had a sense of their primary objective and their budgetary constraints, they got inventive. Word games are a simple method to spark creativity. They posed themselves many inquiries.

  • How do we want our visitors to feel when they enter our zone?
  • How do we want to distinguish ourselves from the hundreds of other areas?
  • How do we want visitors to interact with our items inside the space?

Once they had compiled a respectable list of characteristics, they defined the terms and provided instances (locations and individuals) for each. From their extensive list, they selected their most essential qualities: genuine, durable, simple, and new. This activity prompted them to consider locations with basic, contemporary architecture that people can also connect to, environments that seem inclusive and enduring.

This procedure resulted in the winning piece of inspiration: coffee shops with a clean Scandinavian style. Fortunately, the San Francisco Bay Area (where SalesforceIQ and Salesforce are based) is filled with coffee shops of this kind. Multiple visits to Reveille, St. Frank, The Mill, and Mazarine Coffee likely resulted in the destruction of their kidneys.

3. Modify challenges to your advantage

The event you are designing may have a certain brand or aesthetic that you must adhere to. Utilize brand limitations to advertise your goods in previously unconsidered ways.

In the instance of SalesforceIQ, Dreamforce has long been seen as a beautifully lit and massive event. They had to be as visually “loud” as the other places so as not to be lost in the crowd, but also retaining our unique characteristics (authentic, simple, fresh, and enduring). They were certain that the coffee shop look of their designer would help them stand out from the throng.

4. Make the sketch

Before starting to draw ideas for your room, consider the available square footage and the number of objects that may be accommodated without overloading the area. SalesforceIQ was aware that they needed to consider stuff such as computers, mobile devices, giant displays, intimate table arrangements, swag distribution, and other décor.

Once you’ve determined these requirements, you may next draw potential entrance and circulation routes for consumers. This required SalesforceIQ to investigate how clients would flow into the product demonstration stations. They were fortunate to collaborate with an event marketing firm to assess the rendered designs.

5. Plan ahead

It is useful to create a timeline/schedule for managing your region, particularly if you have several suppliers to oversee or projects that may require additional time. Try to anticipate any complications that may arise throughout the conception and execution of the project so that you can be proactive and have backup plans in place.
